Our take on Ike is pretty much the same, Adrianne. I didn’t say it on my blog, but I’ll say it here: He did look like the type of dude who would slap a sistah in a heartbeat, at least to me. As for the Grammys, I, too, was surprised to learn he won one last year, but I haven’t watched them since the familiar musicians’ names like Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, etc., gave way to people I’d never heard of. But I’d be willing to bet that Ike Turner’s Blues category wasn’t in the televised portion, which is pretty much limited to pop and R&B.
