Probably the most quotable movie in our community, the Color Purple is a family favorite. The most poignant angle for me is the love between two sisters and all the obstacles and years that seperated them. I remember when this movie was first release a lot of men thought it cast black men in a bad light. I never felt that way. What do you think? Anyway, I was a teenager when I saw this movie and before then I never cried so many times in one film-and I don’t think I have since. Usually there’s one scene that pulls your heart, this one had so many. An excellent script, wonderful performances and a fantastic soundtrack. This movie has it all.
