Celebrating Black Love

We met via work…he was an account executive and I was a client. At the time he was married and I was engaged but we became friends. Two years later…I was available…my former fiancee was killed by a drunk driver..and he was available…he had gotten a divorce. Hubby and I started dating 9 months after my fiancee passed…well it was under the guise of friendship…he kept up with me to make sure that I was okay…lol…and 9 months after we started dating we were married. It all happened quicker than I expected…actually my formed fiancee was WONDERFUL and I didn’t think I would ever be blessed to meet another man in this lifetime who would sweep me off my feet…I was pleasantly surprised that my hubby was able to do so! I love him as much today as I did yesterday…actually I love him more. Through two kids, death of parents, breast cancer (me), several job changes in the last 7 years (both of us)…we’ve still survived…God has been good…God is good!
He sure is, Yasmin. Congratulation and thanks for being a positive image of black love.

That was beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Yasmin. Nikki Giovanni was right, “black love is black wealth.” Thanks for putting a smile on my face today.

Thanks Kelli and Gwyneth.
As with anything marriage is work…and it’s definitely giving and taking. While I’ve always said if something happened to Rick and I prematurely…I would never do it again…marriage that is…I am thankful that I had the chance to experience it…the good, bad and the ugly (well sometimes…lol).

That is so beautiful. So often we hear about what doesn’t work. We need to hear about love that does and survives the obsticles. I hope the two of you have many many more years to come!

Yas,
I hope all that read, this wonderful love story, get a chance to experience the true love that you and your husband feel for each other. It was awful to lose a good man, but it was wonderful that you found another in Rick. Many more years of wedded bliss.
Luv ya,
Jennifer

Hi Yas!
This was very inspiring. While I have only 7 of your 29 years, I hope to be blessed with my husband for as long as the Lord allows. We (positive married African Americans) are the minority but hopefully, in time, we will be the majority.
Thanks for sharing and blessings of an ever growing love in your marriage
