Mushy Monday presents: Mohogany

One of the first love stories I remember growing up was Mohogany. I was about 4 1/2 when it hit the theaters but I think I was about ten when I saw it on one of my mother’s VHS tapes. To me Diana Ross was simply gorgeous and Billy Dee Williams was the 70s Denzel Washington. Of course ‘Do You Know?’ was and still is one of my all time favorite songs. Despite being a little long, Mohogany hits all my mushy, cheesy love spots and it’s officially kicking off my Mushy Monday Hall of Fame.

Not that I believe Diana would give up her fame for a man, but that last scene when she returns to Chicago and her and Billy Dee are running towards each other is classic! Definitely one of my fave movies!

Hello Jan, I’m a Jan, too. (middle name: Janette) I agree with you, the last scene with Diana in that big white fur coat coming through the crowd. Ah, priceless.

So true! It makes me think about my husband coming off the submarine knowing I haven’t seen him in about six months.

I loved that movie too. And the song Do You Know Where You’re Going To? was the theme song for my high school graduation in 1976. Every time I hear it it bring back memories of sexy little 17 year old girl.ME!

First of all, you know goodness well VHS tapes weren’t even out when you were ten. It was the BETA tapes you seen it on. Or was it just HBO? Dianna played that role so well, I seriously thought she was really on drugs! For real! Although, you are right, I’m not quite sure if I ever watched this long as hell movie straight through without falling asleep.zzzzzz
And second of all….Billy D Williams ain’t got $h*t on Mr. D. Washington!
Just thought I’d correct my friend on a couple of things, that’s all. Who cares about the fact that everyone is entitled to there um, opinions?

Sorry, Angie
You need to defrag your memory. VHS was out. The was no HBO in Germany at that time and shoot Billy D. had it going on in the 70s.
